Willow Cottages - Hanworth
An overseas client had an ongoing issue with damp coming from her flat roof and while rectifying that issue she wanted a complete overhaul of the main roof and lower pitches. We completely stripped all pitches back to the joists, installed insulation, breathable felt and Del Prado Spanish slates. Before stepping down to the rear flat roof the chimney stack needed a little TLC so we replaced any worn bricks and repointed the cement work. For the flat roof we took it back to the ceiling lights, fitted new firring strips, insulation boards and a new timber deck before finishing with a 3 layer torch on high performance charcoal felt system. The main issue with the damp problem was poor ventilation and too much fibre glass insulation so to prevent this from happening again we fitted 2 ventilation stacks to allow the heat to escape. Lead flashings were installed and dressed before fitting new gutters and downpipes all round. We visited the property to start work in Mid April for 4 weeks and these are the results.
